PRODUCTS AND RAW MATERIALS
Bericah S.p.A. specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of a wide range of Medical Devices (MD), designed to protect healthcare professionals and patients during diagnostic procedures, preventive activities, monitoring, prognosis, treatment, and disease, injury, and disability reduction.
Additionally, the company also offers a selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) falling under various categories (first, second, and third) aimed at ensuring the safety of workers during the performance of their activities, preventing potential harm to health and safety.
The choice of the product should always be based on its intended use.
As a first step, it is important to ask yourself some fundamental questions:
- For what purpose do I need this product?
- What features do I expect it to have?
- How much am I willing to spend?
Make sure to select a product that can meet your specific needs and provide the desired functionalities.
The usage instructions may vary depending on the type of product and are always provided on the label.
To ensure the maximum performance of the device, it is crucial to carefully follow the provided instructions.
When choosing gloves, it is important to carefully consider the following characteristics:
Raw Material: Various materials such as latex, vinyl, nitrile, or vitrile can be considered depending on specific needs.
Nature of Hazard: Consider the type of hazard the glove needs to protect against, such as chemicals, biological agents, or mechanical risks.
Purpose: Determine whether the glove is intended to protect the patient, the operator, or both. This will influence the choice of glove type and features.
Protection Level: Consider the required level of protection based on regulations and specific workplace needs.
Workplace Environment: Environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature, or the presence of chemicals should be considered to ensure glove compatibility with the workplace.
Thickness: The glove should have an adequate thickness to provide necessary protection without compromising tactile sensitivity.
AQL (Acceptable Quality Level): AQL indicates the level of acceptability for defects in the glove batch.
It is important to consider this parameter to ensure the quality of the selected gloves.
These are raw materials with different strengths:
Latex: gloves made from natural antibacterial rubber sought for high tactile sensitivity, excellent elasticity, and grip that ensure comfortable use;
Nitrile: gloves made from synthetic rubber, born as an alternative for those allergic to latex who need a durable and comfortable product;
Vinyl: gloves made from synthetic raw materials. They are a valid alternative for individuals allergic to latex who are looking for a product with the right quality/price ratio.
The acronym AQL, which stands for 'Acceptable Quality Level,' represents a fundamental index to ensure product quality.
It indicates the acceptable level of defects or imperfections that can be present in a batch of products without compromising the overall quality.
In other words, AQL establishes a tolerable limit for defects, allowing for an objective assessment and control of product quality in accordance with predetermined quality standards.
These are acronyms indicating the material composition of a product; specifically:
TNT (Non-Woven Fabric): a generic term for an industrial product similar to fabric but produced by methods other than weaving and knitting;
SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond): a non-woven fabric made of continuous polypropylene (PP) filaments randomly arranged and thermally bonded through a calendering process or "spunlaid thermobonded" method, plus a layer of "meltblown" and one of "spunbonded polypropylene";
SMMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Meltblown-Spunbond): similar to SMS but with two layers of "meltblown" instead of one;
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene): high-density polyethylene, a thermoplastic polymer derived from petroleum;
LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene): low-density polyethylene, a thermoplastic polymer derived from petroleum;
CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene): a chlorinated thermoplastic polyethylene elastomer, produced by chlorinating polyethylene;
PLP (Polypropylene): polypropylene, a very durable thermoplastic material.
Bericah was the first to introduce an innovative system of glove size identification in Italy using distinct colors on each package.
The primary objective of this solution is to ensure quick and immediate recognition during regular work activities and emergency situations, thereby eliminating any loss of time.
Size/Color breakdown:
EXTRA SMALL: Green
SMALL: Red
MEDIUM: Blue
LARGE: Yellow
XL: Purple
2XL: Black
3XL: Brown
4XL: Orange
It is important to know the operator's allergies to avoid any triggering events.
Latex proteins are among the main culprits for most allergies; therefore, it is necessary to use alternative products without latex for sensitive individuals.
Some of these alternative products include:
Nitrile gloves: Nitrile gloves are one of the most common alternatives to latex gloves. They are made from a synthetic material that provides good chemical resistance and a protective barrier similar to latex gloves.
Vinyl gloves: Vinyl gloves are another latex-free option. They are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and offer a lightweight protective barrier, but they may not be suitable for use in high-risk contamination situations.
Polyurethane gloves: Polyurethane gloves are a comfortable and flexible alternative. They are made of a synthetic material that provides good tactile sensitivity, but they may not be suitable for all uses due to their lower chemical resistance.
Neoprene gloves: Neoprene gloves are a good alternative for individuals sensitive to latex. They are made of a latex-resistant synthetic material and provide good chemical resistance and a protective barrier.
A simple tailor's measuring tape (commonly known as a "centimeter") and a ruler can be more than sufficient to determine the size of your glove.
To find out how to choose the right size, follow these instructions:
- Open your hand with fingers together, except for the thumb, which should be separated from the rest of the fingers.
- Pass a tailor's measuring tape around the hand, above the knuckles.
- The idea is to create a circumference around the hand, leaving the thumb outside.
- Measure the distance from the middle finger to the wrist, where the hand begins.
Here is a comparison table:
Hand Circumference | Glove Size Equivalence |
Between 17 and 19 cm | XS |
Between 19 and 20 cm | S |
Between 20 and 22 cm | M |
Between 22 and 24 cm | L |
